Bio

Kostis Polydorou is a professional saxophonist with a passion for jazz, rock, and pop music. Born in Greece, Kostis began playing the saxophone at the age of 12 and has since honed his skills through rigorous training and performance. He studied classical and jazz piano at the Music School of Pireaus, Jazz Saxophone at the Ionian University and has earned diplomas in classical saxophone, counterpoint and fugue, and jazz saxophone.

Kostis’ musical style is characterized by his versatility and emotional depth. He draws inspiration from a wide range of musical genres and influences, including Charlie Parker,John Coltrane, Kenny Garrett, David Sanborn, and Grover Washington Jr., among others. His music is both dynamic and introspective, exploring the full range of human emotions with every note.

Kostis has performed at many festivals throughout Greece and abroad, showcasing his skills as a saxophonist and improviser. He is an active member of the Greek jazz scene, performing regularly at venues such as Stravros tou Notou, Kyttaro Club, and Pireus Theatre. Kostis has also worked as a session musician with numerous bands, including theatrical musicals, jazz, rock, Latin, and pop groups. He is currently a session player with Gigs, performing with small jazz duets in luxury hotels as well as big rock bands.

Kostis is not just a performer, but also a passionate advocate for jazz
music. He believes that jazz is more than just a genre of music, but a
way of life that celebrates creativity, collaboration, and
improvisation. He has dedicated himself to educating others about the
history and traditions of jazz, teaching saxophone and jazz theory to
students of all ages and levels.
